Chase Scene

This time around in e9, a group of students including me, (the creeper that steals the gum), made a chase scene that has almost nothing serious about it. I mean, I'm stealing a piece of gum from someone! That's a crime in itself. Anyways, I'm going to tell you what I learned, what I will apply to my next video, how collaboration was different this time than the last two projects, and how I could improve collaboration in my next project.

What I learned while making this is that nothing will go your way the first time. The lighting in the last couple of shots changed because while filming, some of the lights in the hallway went out so we had to just go with the flow. What I'll try to apply to my next project, is time and patience. Those are very important when making a video because not everything will turn out the way you'd like, so you have to adjust and keep going.

Collaboration was different this time around because I worked with more than one other person. I worked with three other classmates, so we had to assign roles to each person. Two people were acting, one person was sort-of a director, and the other person had to film. How I could improve collaboration in my next project is trying to give equal parts to each person. At least one person should be in the video in someway that mad sense.

AB Sequence

What I learned while making this video was that even though the shot seems perfect, something will happen that just cuts off their head, or their feet, or the shot doesn't line up, etc. I also learned that in Final Cut Pro/YouTube, every shot is made bigger. So if you thought that your actor's/actress's head isn't cut off, it most likely is. I will try to make it so that my actor is in full frame in every shot next time I do something like this. And I will plan out my shots better next time.

My definition of collaboration is, two people giving an equal amount of work to accomplish a certain goal. And Brady really helped with all of the shots, and making sure that they lined up to the best of their ability. He was a good partner to work with, and I really enjoyed making this video! ENJOY!

6 Shot Sequence

Well, I've made a new video for e9 using the 6 shot sequence, and I think it turned out well! The different shots in the 6 shot sequence are the Extreme Wide Shot, and that's the shot that shows everything around the person, including environment. The Wide Shot, which is a full-body shot of the person. There's also the Medium Shot, which is a waist-up view of the person you're filming. There's the Over the Shoulder, or OTS. The OTS is a view over the shoulder of the person, looking down at what they're doing. There's the Close Up, where it's a view of their face, and what the expression is. Finally, there's the Extreme Close Up. A good example of an Extreme Close Up is in the movie "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly", during the shootout scene where the camera is zoomed in on all of the eyes of the main characters.

What I learned while doing this was how to film each shot while not getting my camera knocked over while she danced. It was difficult, an I had to zoom in on a couple places, but the end product was nice. I also learned that each shot wasn't perfect each time, so we did a little bit of re-filming.

What I will try to apply to my next project is more interesting shots. Yes, having someone spin isn't really that exciting, but there was a lot more that I could've done to make it more interesting.

New Highlights Video!

e9 has been a very fun experience for me, and this time we got to make a highlights video using Final Cut Pro! I might need to use this for my gaming channel...

There were many different tools that I had to use in FCPX, and shortcuts helped exponentially. For example, using the "Command-B" shortcut to help cut audio and video. I used it to cut my audio track into 2 separate tracks, and turn down the volume while The Crazy Russian Hacker was speaking. It also helped me cut the sections of my video that I didn't need. I had some extra clip in the beginning of my video, but the blade tool helped me to make it go away. I also used the "Shift-Z" command to help bring everything on the timeline into focus. It really helped if I needed to get somewhere fast.

This particular hobby is important to me because science is one of my favorite subjects in school, and learning that there are cool science tricks that I can do at home is one of the coolest things ever! I highly doubt that I'll ever put corn starch in my mouth and make myself into a human flamethrower.

My Dream House

The house I made isn't all that impressive. It has one story, and a one-car garage. But what I think I did well was making the shape of the house. It's one of those houses that has the front patio sticking out from the rest of the house. It reminds me of a one-story version of my own house!

Another thing I think I did well was the one little rose line, and small pond. I think it makes the house look a little bit bigger than it is Looking at my peers' projects, I know I could have added more flowers, a tree, or some shrubbery. But I think it makes it look good!

Finally, I think it impacts the ecomm program by letting us get a feel for graphic design before we actually switch classes. And it lets us use a "camera" before we move to videography. And that helps out the program a lot.

Animation

So, I worked pretty hard in Keynote and iMovie to have this 30 second animation made.  I honestly think I've accomplished something in my life!  And it's a good feeling! Anyways, enjoy the life of a grain of sugar!

ISTP?

So... I took part one of this test that shows me what kind of person I am!

Is it bad that I have no idea what this is saying? I'm only 14!

And it seems that I like to think a lot, which is true. And that I have the best career in the Visual Arts, which I like. It seems that this website has hacked into my brain and made the answers that I want to see. Should I be scared or intrigued?
